Beware the sugar snap peas

So we were sitting down to dinner last night. I had made chili and one of those Steam Fresh bags of sugar snap peas. Leah was sitting two seats down from me so I couldn't see her plate. All of a sudden she said, "Daddy, what is this?" Mike took one of her snap peas and looked at it. Then he handed it to me. Leah had torn it in half and in between two of the peas was a teeny tiny caterpillar or worm or centipede or something. Of course it was dead (I gag a little just writing this) because I had steamed it BUT STILL! Leah likes to tear the snap peas in half but what if that had been one I ate? I just munch right down on them without looking inside. Or what if she had taken a bite instead of ripping this particular one. I tell you my skin crawled. I opened up every snap pea I ate after that, threw away the leftovers, and do NOT plan on buying them again.

So the warning is beware all fruits or vegetables that you eat without seeing the inside. Yikes!
