Possible suspension...

of my 5K ambitions. :(

Last Sunday we took the kids on a walk to see all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood. For some reason my knees started bothering me while we were walking. Ever since then, the part of my knees under the kneecap has been aching. I have had slight knee issues before. I remember when I did guard, whenever we would have staging practices, my knees would bother me. It's weird that they hurt more when I do easy things like walk and stand than when I work out and dance. Anyway, I am wondering if maybe the running has inflamed my cartilage with all the pounding. So I have to stop running for a while and see if it gets better.

I still want to go to the gym for Pilates and yoga, but it is really hard to make it to classes on a schedule right now. Between two kids, each on their own schedule, I can't force them into mine. So I think I may need to get some DVDs and really make myself do them at home. If anyone still needs to get me Christmas or birthday presents, Pilates and yoga DVDs are a great idea.

On another note, I just got a phone call from my neighbor. Apparently our city is on an even higher lever of water restrictions. We have not been allowed to water outside or wash cars or anything like that for quite a while. Now I hear that you are only going to be allowed 6000 gallons a month and that at a 15% increase in price. After 6000 gallons they will charge you $10 for every 1000 gallons. My neighbor said that she checked her last month's bill and, even though she thought she was conserving water, they used 12000 gallons. So we better watch out. If anyone out there has ideas for conserving water in the home, please pass them on.

Some of the things that popped into my head are turning off the water when you brush your teeth, putting a soda bottle filled with water in your toilet tank (I think that's for older toilets that held alot of water, Im sure since you have a new house you probably have efficient toilets). Limit your time in the shower, give the girls showers rather then baths. Oh and one I saw on NBC during their green week (i think) put your pots and pans in the dishwasher rather then hand washing them, uses alot less water.

Hey Ang,

This is from the City's website: http://www.monroenc.org/water_shortage/Water%20conservation%20residential%20dwellings.pdf

and some more: http://www.ci.tukwila.wa.us/pubwks/watertips.pdf

We've been doing quite a few of those to save water already. Our October bill showed we only used 5700 gallons.

I'm still going to put ziploc bags/soda bottle in each toilet tanks even though our toilets only use 1.5 gal at a time.

And the children aren't allowed to bathe anymore. ;-)

I swear I think the 2nd pregnancy did a number on my joints! My knees have been hurting when I run too, and my hips too. The only problems I've ever had in the past are my back, so these are new since Corgan.

Girly go get your knees looked at and make sure to say the word Meniscus. As for the water: if its yellow.. something about mellow.. if it's brown flush it down! Also, use bottled water when you brush or wash your hands. (Our renters did this when their water got shut off)

Angelle, I don't know if you get comcast in your area - if you do, you might have exercise TV on demand (we used to) and they have all sorts of yoga and pilates.

If not - I just searched pilates on comcast.net videos, and did a 20 minute "Total Body Pilates" with Nicole Stewart that was good for me as a beginner. They had more videos so they probably have something a little more advance.

I recommend taking glucosamine and condrotin for the knees. When Tim takes it, he swears he feels a difference.

You know, I always laugh when grandma tells everyone about the water shortage, which is hard to believe when you live in south Louisiana! I had no idea that this is really a problem for other parts of the country. Hey, I have an idea, you could move here...we have plenty water...in fact we have more than we know what to do with! =)

We have digital cable and you get free exercise on demand. It is nice to change it around a lot. Good Luck with your knees!
